At Legend Lodge we specialize in fly fishing for trophy rainbow trout, silver rainbows, silver (coho) salmon, sockeye salmon, king (chinook) salmon, char, northern pike and grayling.

What to expect
- A great trip for any level of experience. Beginners get taught, and experienced anglers get left alone to fish.

- Home cooked meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared at the lodge, with fresh salmon on the menu.
- Hunting opportunities. Ducks over decoys after September 1 as an add-on to your fishing trip.
- Trout fishing opportunities. Wild resident and lake-run chrome rainbows on the Copper River, one of North America's top 100 trout rivers.
Getting to the lodge
- Fly to Anchorage. Most guests arrive the day before their trip starts.
- Anchorage to Iliamna. A scheduled flight of about 250 miles southwest to the village of Iliamna on the north shore of Lake Iliamna.
- Float plane to Legend Lodge. Included in the fly fishing package. We coordinate the plane and cargo schedule with you so rods, waders and gear arrive with you.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get to Legend Lodge?
Fly from Anchorage to Iliamna, about 250 miles southwest. The fly fishing package includes the float plane flight from Iliamna to the lodge and back, and our staff coordinates the cargo and plane schedule with you.
Do I need fly fishing experience?
No. Trips suit beginners and experienced anglers. Our Coast Guard certified guides teach first-timers, and guests who have never held a fly rod are usually catching fish by the end of the first day.
What is included in the price?
The Salmon and Trout package includes five nights of lodging, five days of fully guided fishing, the flights between Iliamna and the lodge, and all meals. Fly-outs to the upper Copper and Gibraltar rivers are optional at $150 per person per day. The Nushagak salmon camp does not include air transportation and requires a 50% deposit.
Can I keep my catch?
Yes. Guests can bring home their full personal limit of salmon.
When is the fishing season?
Summer guiding runs from 6am to 6pm Alaska time. The Copper River special runs August 15 to September 10, when the sockeye run pulls the big lake-run rainbows into the river, and duck hunting opens after September 1.
How many people can come?
The lodge takes a maximum of six guests at a time so every angler gets a guide's attention. The Nushagak king and silver salmon camp hosts up to twelve.
